Terms of Use

Last updated: March 9, 2026

By installing or using the Distraction Blocker Chrome extension or visiting this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Distraction Blocker Chrome browser extension ("the Extension") and its associated website ("the Site"). By installing the Extension or accessing the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please uninstall the Extension and discontinue use of the Site.

2. Description of the Extension

Distraction Blocker is a free, open-source Chrome extension that allows users to hide specific user interface elements on supported websites, including Reddit and YouTube. The Extension operates entirely within your browser and does not modify, interfere with, or transmit any website content to external servers.

3. License to Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, and limited license to install and use the Extension for your personal, non-commercial use.

The Extension's source code is open source. Please refer to the LICENSE file in the GitHub repository for the applicable open-source license terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Extension only for its intended purpose of managing UI element visibility in your own browser. You agree not to:

  • Use the Extension for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract portions of the Extension beyond what is permitted by the open-source license.
  • Modify or distribute the Extension in a way that removes attribution or misrepresents its origin.
  • Use the Extension in a manner that could harm, disable, or impair any website or service.

5. Third-Party Websites

The Extension interacts with third-party websites (e.g., Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook) by hiding elements in your local browser view. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected to these third-party services.

Your use of those websites is governed entirely by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. It is your responsibility to ensure your use of the Extension complies with the terms of service of any third-party website.

6. No Warranty

The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Extension will function without interruption or error.
  • The Extension will be compatible with all versions of Chrome or all operating systems.
  • CSS selectors used by the Extension will remain functional if third-party websites change their layout or structure.
  • The Extension will meet your specific requirements.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developers of Distraction Blocker shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use or inability to use the Extension or the Site, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Extension shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Extension (which is zero, as it is free).

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site (text, design, graphics) and the Extension's code, except where otherwise noted, is the property of the Distraction Blocker developers and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The open-source portions are governed by the license specified in the repository.

9. Changes to the Extension and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension at any time without notice. We also reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the Terms were last revised. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in good faith or through appropriate legal channels.
